Durham University appoints John McCafferty as Honorary Professor of the History of Catholicism
Durham University has appointed John McCafferty an Honorary Professor of the History of Catholicism in the Department of Theology and Religion on 1 Feb 2021. John has been collaborating with Durham, especially the Centre for Catholic Studies for a number of years. Working closely with Dr James Kelly, he has organised a number of conferences on early modern Catholic history and on the archival collections of religious congregations. James and John are co-editors of the forthcoming five volume Oxford History of British and Irish Catholicism which covers the period from Henry VIII’s break with Rome to 2010. Durham Theology was ranked 4th in the world according to the 2020 QS University Subject Rankings and the university is a member of the UK’s Russell Group of Universities.
